Perry Hall Playing Fields
Perry Barr,Birmingham
England
The Issue
At present there are 13 cricket squares in the playing fields,
this is an excessive amount and year in year out the cricketers from other areas of Birmingham ask for more squares and get them.

The cricket pitches can be clearly seen on this image from Google Earth
This is a very large area of land set aside for the sole use of the cricket league. The cricketers meet only at the weekend. For the remainder of the week local residents are not allowed to play on the squares. It is this that we strongly object to.
We are very fortunate in Perry Hall to have some of the best Park Wardens and Grounds staff in the city. We have no arguement with them at all as they are acting under instruction to move on people who attempt to play on the pitches.
The problem is there is very little free space left for games now. The remaining free area is simply too small to cater for the large amount of people wishing to take part in recreational games.
The remaining land is either uneven, overgrown or covered in goose excrement making it unsuitable for use.
This is a list of cricket pitches in other playing fields:-
Elmdon 1 pitch
Holders lane 1 pitch
Billesley 1 pitch
holford 1 pitch
shard end 2 pitches

We think it is time that Cllr. Hassall explains why he allowed 13 pitches in our playing fields.
